Deleting Batch Users
Deleting a batch user is a three-phase operation: revoke privileges from all roles, reassign any jobs that reference the batch user in the daily and master tables, then delete the record. Completing all three phases prevents orphaned job references.
Default batch users (use service account for Windows and SQL, * for MCP and IBM i) cannot be deleted.
Phase 1: Revoke privileges
To revoke batch user privileges from all roles, complete the following steps:
- Under the Security topic, select Batch User Privileges. The Batch User Privileges screen opens.
- In the Select Role list, select a role. Use the Find (Ctrl+F) button to locate a role by name.
- In the Target Operating System list, select an operating system.
- In the Granted list, select the batch user or users to revoke.
- Select the left arrow to move the selected batch users to the Revoked list.
- Repeat steps 2–5 for every role that has privileges to this batch user.
- Select Close to close the Batch User Privileges screen.
Phase 2: Reassign jobs in the daily tables

- Select Save on the Job Daily toolbar.
- Repeat steps 4–7 for every job in the daily tables that references the batch user.
- Select Close to close the Job Daily screen.
- Select Close to close the Daily Maintenance screen.
Phase 3: Reassign jobs in the master tables
To remove the batch user from master job records, complete the following steps:
- On the Daily Maintenance screen, select Edit Master. The Job Master screen opens.
- In the Schedule list, select a schedule.
- In the Job list, select a job that references the batch user.
- Select a replacement batch user in the User ID field (labeled Group ID/User ID for UNIX jobs or User Code for MCP jobs).
- Select Save on the Job Master toolbar.
- Repeat steps 3–5 for every job in the master tables that references the batch user.
- Select Close to close the Job Master screen.

-
In the Target Operating System list, select the operating system for the batch user.
-
In the Batch Users list, select the batch user to delete.
-
Select Remove on the Batch Users toolbar.
noteIf the batch user is still referenced by jobs in the master or daily tables, Enterprise Manager displays a cross-reference dialog listing the affected jobs. You can force the deletion from the dialog or cancel and reassign the jobs manually.

-
Select Close to close the Batch Users screen.
Result: The batch user record is permanently removed from OpCon. The batch user no longer appears in any privilege or job assignment lists.
