Editing Job Automation Components in Job Daily

Editing job automation components in the Daily editor is similar to editing job automation components in the Job Master editor. For more detailed information on Job Master maintenance, refer to Using Job Master.

note

Changes made to the job properties in the Job Daily will take place immediately. If the job has already run, the changes will take effect the next time the job runs.

Editing Job Details

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the arrow to expand the date which has the schedule where the job is to be edited.
  3. Click on the arrow to expand the schedule that has the job to edit.
  4. Click on the job to edit.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. (Optional) Click on the Job Details tab and enter the changes.
  7. (Optional) Enter the changes. For information regarding the platform-specific job details, refer to their Job Type Details.
  8. Click Save icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar.
  9. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  10. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Adding Properties to Daily Job Instances

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date which has the schedule where the job is to be edited.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule that has the job to edit.
  4. Click on the job to edit.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Instance Definition tab.
  7. Enter the property definition (e.g., PropertyName=value) in the Define Property text box.
  8. Click the Add button.
  9. Repeat Steps 7 and 8 to add additional properties.
  10. Click Save     icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar.

Editing Daily Job Instance Properties

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date which has the schedule where the job is to be edited.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule that has the job to edit.
  4. Click on the job to edit.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Instance Definition tab.
  7. Select the property name in the Available Properties table.
  8. Make the changes to the property definition.
  9. Click the Update button.
  10. Click Save     icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar.

Removing Daily Job Instance Properties

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date which has the schedule where the job is to be edited.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule that has the job to edit.
  4. Click on the job to edit.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Instance Definition tab.
  7. Select the property definition in the Available Properties table.
  8. Click the Remove button.
  9. Click Save     icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar to confirm the deletion or click Cancel on the Job Daily toolbar to cancel the deletion.

Editing Job Frequencies

Editing Frequency details in the Daily editor allows changes for the time-related information for a job.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Frequency tab.
  7. Enter the changes. For more information on the individual fields, refer to Other Job Details in the Concepts online help.
  8. Click Save     icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar.
  9. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  10. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Editing Job Events

Editing Event details in the Daily editor allows changes to the job events setup to run on the date in the Job Daily. For conceptual information on job events, refer to Events in the Concepts online help.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Events tab.
  7. Click on the event to edit.
  8. Click the Edit button in the Events frame. The Event Definition Wizard displays.
  9. Enter the changes. For more details on editing the Job event parameters, refer to Editing Job Events.
  10. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Adding Job Events

To perform this procedure:

Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.

Click on the Expand arrow to expand the date for the schedule.

Click on the Expand arrow to expand the schedule.

Click on the job.

Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.

Click on the Events tab.

Click the Add button in the Events frame. The Event Definition Wizard displays.

Select the Job Status, LSAM Feedback, Exit Description, or Job Completion Complex Expression radio button on the Event Trigger screen of the wizard.

Click the Next button to proceed to Trigger Details screen of the wizard.

Do one of the following depending on your selection in Step 8.

a. (If Job Status was selected) Select the job status in the Job Status drop-down list and proceed to Step 11. b. (If LSAM Feedback was selected) Select the Feedback name in the LSAM Feedback drop-down list. Next, enter in the String to match field any string to match the feedback value that will trigger the OpCon event. Then, proceed to Step 11. c. (If Exit Description was selected) Select the Operator in the Comparison Operator drop-down list . Next, enter in the Value field the proper value based on the selected Operator and enter in the End Value field the value for the end of the Range. Then, proceed to Step 11. d. (If Job Completion Complex Expression was selected) Enter the expression in the Expression text box and proceed to Step 11. Click the Next button to advance to the Event Definition screen of the wizard.

Select an OpCon event template from the Event Template drop-down list. For more information, refer to the OpCon Events online help.

Example
$JOB:ADD,<schedule date\>,<schedule name\>,<job name\>,<frequency name\>

Place your mouse cursor at the beginning of a <syntax placeholder> displayed in the Event Parameters text box then drag the cursor to the right to select the entire syntax placeholder, excluding any surrounding commas. For example: ,<schedule name>, .

Replace the selected syntax placeholder with valid OpCon event information.

If you wish to replace the syntax placeholder with a token, then do the following:

Follow Step 13 to select the syntax placeholder.

Click the Insert Token buton Insert token button or press Ctrl/t on the keyboard to list available global properties.

Locate the global property in the selector by:

i. Scrolling to it. ii. Using the search field and filter criteria to find it. You can use Windows wildcard characters in the search field to expand the search and filter the search by property name, property value, or both (default).

Double-click on the global property (e.g., $SCHEDULE DATE).

Double brackets will automatically be placed around the placeholder for the token that is defined.

Example

Click the Reset button to reset the parameters to their original states.

Click Finish to save the job event or click Cancel to discard the changes made in the wizard.

Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.

Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Deleting Job Events

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Events tab.
  7. Click on the event to delete.
  8. Click the Remove button in the Events frame.
  9. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or click the No button to cancel the deletion.
  10. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Editing Threshold/Resource Updates

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Threshold/Resource Update tab.
  7. Click on the Threshold/Resource Update to edit.
  8. Click the Edit button in the Threshold/Resource Updates frame. The Threshold/Resource Update dialog displays.
  9. Enter the changes.
  10. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Adding Threshold/Resource Updates

For conceptual information on job Threshold/Resource Updates, refer to Threshold Updates or Resource Updates in the Concepts online help.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Threshold/Resource Update tab.
  7. Click the Add button in the Threshold/Resource Updates frame. The Threshold/Resource Update dialog displays.
  8. Select a threshold or resource in the Threshold/Resource drop-down list.
  9. Select a job status in the Job Status drop-down list.
  10. Set the value in the Value box.
  11. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  13. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Deleting Threshold/Resource Updates

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Threshold/Resource Update tab.
  7. Click on the threshold or resource to delete.
  8. Click the Remove button in the Threshold/Resource Updates frame.
  9. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or click the No button to cancel the deletion.
  10. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Editing Job Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click on the dependency in the Job Dependency tab.
  8. Click the Edit button. The Edit Dependency dialog displays.
  9. Enter the changes.
  10. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Adding Job Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click the Add button in the Job Dependency tab. The Add Dependency dialog displays.
  8. Select a schedule in the Schedule drop-down list.
  9. Select a job in the Job drop-down list.
  10. Select the Dependency Type radio button.
  11. (Optional) Select the Options checkbox(es).
  12. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  13. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  14. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Deleting Job Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click on the dependency in the Job Dependency tab.
  8. Click the Remove button.
  9. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or click the No button to cancel the deletion.
  10. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Editing Threshold/Resource Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.

  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click on the Threshold/Resource Dependency tab.
  8. Click on the threshold/resource dependency to edit.
  9. Click the Edit button in the Threshold/Resource Dependency frame. The Edit Threshold/Resource Dependency dialog displays.
  10. Enter the changes.
  11. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  13. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Adding Threshold/Resource Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click on the Threshold/Resource Dependency tab.
  8. Click the Add button. The Threshold/Resource Dependency dialog displays.
  9. Select a threshold/resource in the Threshold Resource drop-down list.
  10. Select an operator in the Operator drop-down list.
  11. Select a value in the Value box.
  12. Click the OK button to save the changes.
  13. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  14. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

Deleting Threshold/Resource Dependencies

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Dependencies tab.
  7. Click on the Threshold/Resource Dependency tab.
  8. Click on the threshold/resource dependency to delete.
  9. Click the Remove button.
  10. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or click the No button to cancel the deletion.
  11. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Job Daily tab) to close the Job Daily screen.
  12. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on Daily Maintenance under the Operation topic. The Daily Maintenance screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the date for the schedule.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule.
  4. Click on the job.
  5. Click on the Edit Daily button in the Maintenance frame at the bottom-right side of the screen. The Job Daily screen displays.
  6. Click on the Documentation tab.
  7. Enter the changes to the Documentation and/or Frequency Documentation frames.
  8. Click Save icon Save on the Job Daily toolbar.
  9. Click Close ☒ (to the right of the Daily Maintenance tab) to close the Daily Maintenance screen. :::
