Performing Schedule Procedures when Working in List View

note

If a completed schedule contains failed jobs, it will show in red by default (this is the default failed color for failed jobs) with the text like this: ScheduleName (Completed -- Contains Failed Jobs). If the schedule is still in progress, but contains failed jobs, it will look like this: ScheduleName (In Progress -- Contains Failed Jobs).

Viewing Schedule Information

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to view.
  4. Click on Schedule Information from the menu.
  5. Click the OK button to close the Schedule Information dialog.

Viewing SubSchedule Information

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule containing the subschedule.
  4. Right-click on the subschedule to view.
  5. Click on SubSchedule Information from the menu. The SubSchedule Information dialog displays.
  6. View the information.
  7. Click the OK button to close the SubSchedule Information dialog.

To view Jobs in a SubSchedule:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the schedule containing the subschedule.
  4. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the subschedule.
  5. View the subschedule jobs under the subschedule.

Viewing Schedule History

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to view.
  4. Click on Schedule History from the menu.
  5. (Optional) Change the Start Date or End Date.
  6. (Optional) Select the View Detailed History button.
  7. (Optional) Select the View Archived History button.
  8. View the schedule history.
  9. Click the Close button to close the Schedule History dialog.

Placing All Schedules for Selected Schedule Date On Hold

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date and view the schedules to place On Hold.
  3. Right-click on the Date.
  4. Hover over Schedules in the menu.
  5. Click Hold Schedules from the second menu. The Change Schedule Statuses dialog displays.
  6. Select the checkbox(es) for the schedule statuses to update.
  7. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  8. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Releasing All Held Schedules for Selected Schedule Date

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date and view the schedules to Release.
  3. Right-click on the Date.
  4. Hover over Schedules in the menu.
  5. Click Release Schedules from the second menu. The Change Schedule Statuses dialog displays.
  6. Select the checkbox(es) for the schedule statuses to update.
  7. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  8. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Starting All Schedules for Selected Schedule Date

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date and view the schedules to Start.
  3. Right-click on the Date.
  4. Hover over Schedules in the menu.
  5. Click Start Schedules from the second menu. The Change Schedule Statuses dialog displays.
  6. Select the checkbox(es) for the schedule statuses to update.
  7. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  8. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Checking all Schedules for Specific Date

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Right-click on the date that you want to check all schedules.
  3. Hover over Schedules in the menu.
  4. Click on Check Schedules from the second menu. The Check Schedules dialog displays.
  5. Click the Normal (No Circular), Slow (Circular), or Fast (Requires Only) button. The Schedule Check dialog displays.
  6. Note the log file name so that it can be accessed later, if required.
  7. Click the OK button.

Deleting All Schedules for Selected Schedule Date

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date and view the schedules to delete.
  3. Right-click on the Date.
  4. Hover over Schedules in the menu.
  5. Click Delete all Schedules from the second menu. The Delete dialog displays.
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the deletion.

Changing Job Statuses for Jobs on Particular Schedule Date

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Right-click on the Date.
  3. Hover over Jobs in the menu.
  4. Click Update Job Statuses from the second menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select the job status in the Change all jobs statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the job status checkbox(es) to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Placing Schedules On Hold

This action will suspend the processing of the selected schedule. All currently running jobs continue to process, but no new jobs on the schedule will start.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to place on hold.
  4. Click on Hold from the menu. The HOLD dialog displays.
  5. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Releasing Held Schedules

This action releases the selected schedule from a Held state. The SAM processes jobs on the schedule from the point where they were stopped.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to release.
  4. Click on Release from the menu. The Release dialog displays.
  5. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Starting Schedules

This action overrides a schedule's start date and time. The SAM begins processing as soon as this option is selected.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to start.
  4. Click on Start from the menu. The Start dialog displays.
  5. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Closing Schedules

Use the Close feature to mark a schedule as Completed when the schedule is still In Process only because it contains failed jobs.

This feature is not available for subschedules.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule to close.
  4. Click on Close from the menu. The Close dialog displays.
  5. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  6. Click the OK button to confirm the schedule status change.

Canceling All Jobs on Schedules

This action cancels all jobs for the selected schedule, based on a filter. Any jobs dependent on cancelled jobs do not have those dependencies met.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Cancel in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Holding All Jobs on Schedules

This action will suspend the processing of ALL jobs associated with the selected schedule, based on a filter.

note

Jobs that have already been submitted for starting cannot be held.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Hold in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Marking All Jobs Failed on Schedules

This option marks all jobs on the selected schedule as Failed, based on a filter. To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Mark Failed in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Marking All Jobs Finished OK on Schedules

This option marks all jobs on the selected schedule as Finished OK, based on a filter.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Mark Finished OK in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Releasing All Held Jobs on Schedules

This option places all held jobs on a schedule back into a Qualifying state, based on a filter. Jobs start as soon as all dependencies are met.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Release in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Restarting All Jobs on Schedules

This option places all jobs on the selected schedule back in a Qualifying state, based on a filter. Jobs are started as soon as all dependencies are met.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Restart in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. (Optional) Select the Place job on hold during restart checkbox.
  10. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Restarting Jobs when SubSchedules are Included

A list of Container jobs that have matching statuses to the status filters chosen in the Jobs to update frame will display. The Container jobs will display with checkbox choices to delete and rebuild completed subschedules, leave the subschedules alone, or restart jobs with matching statuses in the subschedule.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Restart in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. (Optional) Select the Place job on hold during restart checkbox.
  10. Select the checkbox for the Container job(s) to delete and rebuild completed subschedules.
  11. Deselect the checkbox for the Container job(s) to leave the subschedules alone.
  12. Leave the checkbox(es) gray (default option) to restart jobs with matching statuses in the subschedules.
  13. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Skipping All Jobs on Schedules

This option places all jobs on the selected schedule in a Job to be Skipped state until they qualify to start. When the jobs qualify, the jobs are skipped and the job dependencies of all subsequent jobs will be met.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Click on Update Job Statuses from the menu. The Update Job statuses dialog displays.
  5. Select Skip in the Change all job statuses to drop-down list.
  6. (Optional) Select the Check All checkbox to select all available job statuses in the Jobs to update frame.
  7. Select the checkboxes for the preferred changes for jobs to update.
  8. (Optional) Enter a short explanation for the status change in the text box provided.
  9. Click the OK button to confirm the job status change.

Editing Daily Schedules

This option allows you the chance to edit the Daily schedule and make any required changes.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Hover over Maintenance in the menu.
  5. Click on Edit Daily Schedule from the second menu. The Schedule Daily screen displays.
  6. Click the tabs and change the information. For more information, refer to Using Daily Maintenance View.
  7. Click Save     icon Save on the Schedule Daily toolbar.
  8. Click on the x to the right of the Schedule Daily tab to close the Schedule Daily screen.

Editing Master Schedules

This option allows you the chance to edit the Master schedule and make any required changes.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Hover over Maintenance in the menu.
  5. Click on Edit Master Schedule from the second menu. The Schedule Master screen displays.
  6. Click the tabs and change the information. For more information, refer to Using Daily Maintenance View.
  7. Click Save     icon Save on the Schedule Master toolbar.
  8. Click on the x to the right of the Schedule Master tab to close the Schedule Master screen.

Checking Schedules

This option gives you the opportunity to run a check of a schedule in the Daily tables.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Hover over Maintenance in the menu.
  5. Click on Check Schedule from the second menu. The Check Schedule dialog displays.
  6. Click the Normal (No Circular), Slow (Circular), or Fast (Requires Only) button. The Schedule Check dialog displays.
  7. Note the log file name so that it can be accessed later, if required.
  8. Click the OK button to close the Schedule Check dialog.

Deleting Schedules

This action gives you the opportunity to delete a schedule from the Daily tables.

To perform this procedure:

  1. Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.
  2. Click on the Expandarrow to expand the specific date.
  3. Right-click on the schedule.
  4. Hover over Maintenance in the menu.
  5. Click on Delete Schedule from the second menu. The Delete Schedule dialog displays.
  6. Click the Yes button to confirm the deletion or click the No button to cancel the deletion.

Adding Jobs

This action gives you the opportunity to add a job(s) to the Daily schedule. For more information, refer to Adding Jobs to Daily Schedules in the Concepts online help.

To perform this procedure:

Double-click on List under the Operation topic. The Daily list screen displays.

Click on the Expand arrow to expand the specific date.

Right-click on the schedule and hover over Maintenance in the menu.

Click on Add Jobs from the second menu. The Add Jobs to <Schedule Name> dialog displays.

Select the Job checkbox(es) that you want to add to the schedule. Alternatively, you can click directly on the job to select it.

Click the Add Job button to add the job(s) from the Master to the Daily schedule. The Confirm Add Job to Schedule dialog displays.

In the Build Status frame:

(Optional) Select the On Hold checkbox if the job is to be added in an On Hold state - or - (Optional) Select the Released checkbox if the job is to be added and Released. In the Frequencies frame:

Select the frequency.

(Optional) Click on the Instance Properties tab and/or click on the Instance Machines tab.

a. (Optional) Define the Job Instance Properties: b. Enter the name and value for the property in the specified format. c. Click on the drop-down arrow and select a machine or select <None> to build an instance for each machine in the defined machine group.

note

If no properties are defined for the schedule, OpCon will still request the build for the schedule, but no properties will be defined.

Click the Yes button to confirm the request sent for "job name" or click the Cancel button to cancel the request.

If multiple jobs were selected:

Repeat Steps 7 - 11 to add the additional jobs' information.

If you need to add additional property definitions:

Repeat Steps 6 - 11.

Click the Close button to close the Add Jobs to <Schedule Name> dialog.

Click on the x to the right of the Daily list tab to close the screen.
