Managing Departments
The Departments editor in Enterprise Manager lets you create and maintain the departments used to organize jobs and control role-based access. Each department has a name and an optional documentation field.

Opening the Departments Editor
To open the Departments editor, complete the following steps:
- In Enterprise Manager, expand the Security topic in the navigation pane.
- Select Departments.
The Departments editor opens and displays the list of existing departments.
Departments Editor Fields
The editor contains the following fields:

|---|---|
| Name | The department name. Maximum 20 characters. Required. |
| Documentation | Optional free-text notes about the department. Maximum 4,000 characters. |
Departments Toolbar
The Departments toolbar provides actions for managing departments.
